NCAA Investigating Pouncey Payment

The NCAA is investigating a $100,000 payment made by a representative for an unnamed player agent to University of Florida center Maurkice Pouncey after the 2009 SEC title game last December.

ESPN.com's Pat Forde reports the NCAA is investigating a $100,000 payment made by a representative for an unnamed player agent to University of Florida center Maurkice Pouncey after the 2009 SEC title game last December.

Pouncey played in the Gators' Sugar Bowl win over the University of Cincinnati, and opted to skip his senior season to enter the 2010 NFL Draft. Pouncey was chosen with the 18th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"The NCAA is working cooperatively with the university. However, it is NCAA policy to not comment on current, pending or potential investigations," the NCAA said on Monday.

Pouncey, who is currently represented by Joel Segal of Lagardere Unlimited, is expected to sign a five-year contract with over $10 million dollar in guaranteed money
