Well Sweat would be huge in GBs defense as there would be no dropoff while waIting for Parsons to return. It's going to take a fight and a mid round draft pick to acquire Sweat from the Cardinals, if the Cards even trade him. More likely they start the season with him and trade him later which would be better for them and worse for us.
Odds of him coming to GB, 10%.

Clowney to GB just makes so much sense, #1 he would be a day 1 starter and give us guaranteed pass rushing production. #2 Contrary to what Justis said, everything I have read still has Clowney as a plus rush defender. #3, and this is important for all the fans who think signing a vet will stall the development of the younger guys, Clowney only needs to play 40% of the snaps, so whoever the best of the other guys is, they will get plenty of work. Lastly he is available for projected $5-6 million for this year. Cmon that is a pittance for GB to pay for a probable 10 sacks this year.

In the first 10 games, which Parsons probably misses, Clowney's strong pass rushing gives us a chance to be 8-2 instead of 5-5. And potentially he could be fantastic playing across from Parsons the 2nd half of the season. And just like Parsons, Clowney's veteran experience will pay dividends as the young guys can learn from his techniques.

I just can't see any downside from signing Clowney and crossing the weak pass rush off the needs list for cheap. Trading for Sweat at the right price would also work because he would be easily tradeable next year if we wanted to. And we probably would get everything back we gave up. A bridge is all we need so Clowney is the obvious easiest, cheapest fis.

Your constant assertion that Clowney wouldn't stall anyone else's development is bull crap.

With 60 defensive snaps in a game, that's 24 snaps based on your 40% claim. Without him the top 5 in the room averages to 24 snaps each.

You're removing 1 player, that matters. Please learn to be honest about this; after that the merits can be discussed.

Since Clowney wouldn't be playing the lions share of the snaps it wouldn't impact the development all that much. The players behind him would still have time develop their skills in practice or with their personal coach and get playing time in situations that might be more advantageous for their development instead of being put in situations they will struggle. They will also get to work with a guy who has been a pro in the league for long time now.

I don't see the downside of development you speak of. These players have to do a lot of that on their own with how the CBA is written. That doesn't change with or without Clowney.

I have a gut feeling Clowney as a deal in place already but doesn't want to go through training camp. He will sign somewhere just a few weeks before the season, hoping it is Green Bay.

Jason La Canfora has written that an NFL executive believes the Packers want Clowney but the Bears do as well.

We HAVE to sign Clowney! We would then be assured of 2 victories against the Lions.

Coach Campbell usually likes to bite kneecaps, but won't with Clowney on the Packer's roster.
