Packers vs. Lions Game Predictions from CheeseheadTV.com

 GAME PREDICTIONS Week 17

Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions

Name Record   Pick Prediction
Adam 16-0 Green Bay Packers
Jersey Al 7-8 Green Bay Packers 37 - 27
Neither defense is anything to write home about. The Packers will score. The Lions will score. The difference is likely to be turnovers. if the Packers can get pressure on Stafford, he will make costly mistakes for his team. A definite high-scoring affair...
Andrew 9-6 Green Bay Packers 24-17
The Lions will be desperate. They are at home, they know a loss could knock them out of the playoffs with a Washington win and they know just a little while ago, they were in command of the NFC North. All that says they should be in this game, but at the end of the day they face a Packers team on a roll, facing many of the same concerns to make the playoffs, but playing with far more confidence. Even if Darious Slay is 100%, the Packers offense is just passing the ball too well. If the Packers can get the run game going as weIl, it could get ugly. I do expect the Lions to be in it, but for them to fall short.
Cory 10-5 Green Bay Packers 31-20
The Packers look like the immovable force and Matthew Stafford has shown that he has trouble throwing after suffering a Week 14 injury. No Hail Mary needed.
Jason 11-4 Green Bay Packers 38-35
I'm sticking with the hot hand this week. The Packers have put on some very strong performances of late but most have been at home. Can they find enough road magic to complete the table run and win the North?  I think they can.  Green Bay's pass rush and secondary will struggle to contain Detroit's passing attack but fortunately, the Lions will have just as much or more trouble with Green Bay's aerial attack, hence the high final score. If the Packers can manage at least four stops on defense, they get the win and move on to their second season.
Jayme 9-6 Green Bay Packers 28-21
Y'all can thank me when we're in the playoffs :)
Michelle 9-6 Green Bay Packers 27-24
This one is for all the marbles. This matchup comes down to whether Green Bay's questionable secondary can slow down Matthew Stafford, who has orchestrated more fourth-quarter comebacks than anyone in the league this season, while the Packers have tended to fall apart in that quarter. However, Stafford's middle finger injury could help bail the Packers out, though it will be a close one.
Ross 10-5 Green Bay Packers 41-27
Green Bay's resurgence, specifically their offensive resurgence has come against quality opponents, and quality defenses.  During this most recent Packers run, they've gone against the NFL's 4th, 6th, 8th, 13th, and 18th ranked defenses via FootballOutsiders's DVOA.  That is not this Lion's group.  Detroit ranks 32nd in the league defensively.  There are 32 teams in said league.  Their 32nd ranked pass defense certainly attributes to that.  Right now Aaron Rodgers is the best football player in the world again.  I don't care what you think of GB's D.  Rodgers as he is on turf against the worst pass defense in football is too much.
Zach 9-6 Green Bay Packers 27-20
Aside from that Hail Mary, the Packers don't have much luck in Detroit. That changes on Sunday. Packers roll, but it won't necessarily be easy. 27-20, NFC North champs.
Mr. X 9-6 Green Bay Packers 41-21
The Packers made their claim to be true contenders last week and now have the opportunity to "run the table" and win the NFC North. They will roll over the pretenders known as the Lions.

The Packers, having learned the importance of playing until the clock strikes zero edge out the Lions and win the NFC North in an offensive slugfest.

And take the over on the number of times they show the Hail Mary at six.

All but one matchup favors GB. Green Bay is simply the better team. They are hotter right now. They've got the better QB.

GB wins by 10+ if Slay isn't effective or doesn't play. GB wins in a close game if he does.

Slay can only cover one guy if he sticks to Jordy then watch Adams have a big day or someone else.

Unless the Packers stop themselves our offense should be very effective against the Lions, running and passing. A big day for Rodgers, the receivers and Monty behind solid OL play. Our defense makes a few plays as well to win the TO battle again. I like the Pack to roll into the playoffs, 37 - 24. No let up, no excuses, no prisoners. Go Pack Go! Thanks, Since '61

P.S. Cory - it's the unstoppable force versus the immovable object, unless you are creating a new and/or your own physics.

I haven't seen Stafford and the Lions suffer much, if at all from the finger injury. Is the media making too much out of it? For those that predict a close score pretty much are saying that if not for the finger injury, Detroit would win tomorrow's game. I agree that it will be a close game but the finger injury (I feel) is irrelevant. Stafford is a great QB, but ARod is better. My concern is the big difference in GB's secondary as it has been compared to opponents' secondary all year.
Packers 27 Lions 24.

I'd be more than happy to have Stafford's finger injury be the reason the Packers win. Same with a bad official's call, fluke play, whatever: Just Win Baby!

That said, I think the Packers are the better team and don't need any of these things to win. Getting Matthews healthy and even with the club on his hand getting occasional pressure from Perry will make the difference in this one (that and the GB O Line holding up as they usually do). I see a lot of yards from the Lions but not as many points. 37-27 Green Bay.

To everybody here on Cheeshead TV. When the Pack got destroyed in Washington everybody most certainly thought our playoff streak was over including myself boy was I wrong. Being a packer fan over the last 20 years or so has been a wonderful journey full of many memories. Here we are with the division on the line on the road!!! What more can you ask for?!? Aaron and Mike McCarthy have been a part of a lot of close games during their tenure and we have lost some heart breakers for sure. This time around we will get the breaks needed to win this game. In 09-10 we got hot at the end to secure the six seed and end up winning every game on the road. That year we didn't even have a running game until rookie James Starks out of Buffalo came off PuP with fresh legs to ignite the ground attack. Adam Czech is definitely a part of this 5 game winning streak and what it represents and that is faith is always stronger than doubt. I would read his piece every Sunday while sipping on some coffee and it was heartbreaking to hear of his passing especially leaving a family behind. It puts into perspective that football is a game that brings us together which is the most important thing in this instance. Watching this run has been fun and football should be fun first and foremost. This game is for you on Sunday night Adam Czech, may you RIP.

The last 3 meetings between these teams have been decided by 7 pts or less. Expect another hard fought divisional slugfest, regardless of Slay's health.

What I dont want to see is Stafford with the ball with 2 mins or less in the 4th quarter. Packers 31, Lions 28.

Stafford threw for 21 TD's in the first 13 games.
Since the middle finger injury & donning the white glove- Stafford has Thrown for 1 TD in the last 3 games. 1 against Chi- Zero against NYG & Zero against DAL

This is the biggest home game Detroit has had in a very long time. The edge in home field for detroit is worth probably 3-4 points. It makes me nervous that everyone is picking GB. I am terrified that our secondary may get carved up if there is no pass rush and give up the easy yards over the middle. I hope Dom and the D sell out every chance they get, if they lose i want it to be trying to blitz rather than playing prevent.

I hope I eat crow and get piled on by the readers for this.. 27-20 Lions..
