Vikings Sign 5th Round LB Nate Triplett

The Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of fifth-round (167th overall) linebacker Nate Triplett.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A reserve linebacker his first three seasons at the University of Minnesota, the 6-3, 250-pound Triplett finished second on the Gophers in tackles in 2009 with 105, including five behind the line of scrimmage. Triplett added a pair of interceptions and fumble recoveries last season.

Triplett won the school's Bobby Bell Award in 2007, presented annually to the team's top special teams player. With E.J. Henderson and Jasper Brinkley ahead of him on the middle linebacker depth chart, special teams is Triplett's ticket to a roster spot.

Triplett is the second member of the Vikings' 8-member draft class to sign a contract, joining seventh-round fullback Ryan D'Imperio.
