Suggs Feels Workouts Will Have Him Ready for Camp

Pro Bowler skipped the team's offseason workouts.

Baltimore Ravens linebacker/defensive end Terrell Suggs has drawn criticism for skipping the team's off-season workouts, but according to Mike Wilkening of Pro Football Weekly, Suggs feels his workouts will have him ready for training camp.

"I'm trying to do a little bit of everything just to make sure my body is right," Suggs said. "I feel like my body has to be at a certain weight and look a certain way by the time I show back up at camp. The way I was going (in Baltimore), it's possible that could've happened, but it just wasn't going at my pace, so, like I said, I just came back to Phoenix to speed up the process a bit."

Suggs did not participate in the Ravens' off-season workouts in 2008 and 2009, when the Ravens had placed the franchise tag on him. With a signed contract this off-season, Suggs did attend the team's mandatory mini-camp, but has opted to train for the upcoming season in Arizona, where he makes his off-season.

Suggs has been undergoing MMA workouts at Arizona Combat Sports in Tempe.

"I got a new-found respect for those (MMA) dudes," Suggs said. "An hour workout feels like two hours on the practice field."
