Seattle Seattle linebacker Leroy Hill has been suspended one game by the National Football League for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times reports.

Hill's one-game suspension was expected, and stems from his February 2009 arrest for possession of marijuana in an Atlanta suburb. Hill plead guilty to those charges in April, and was sentenced to twelve months probation, 30 hours of community service, the requirement to complete a drug and alcohol abuse program within the next 180 days, and $550 in fines and court costs.

Ten days later, Hill was arrested on domestic violence charges in Issaquah, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. That case is still pending, with a trial expected to begin later this month.
Hill's one-game suspension also came with the loss of an additional game check, which individually are worth $352,941. Overall, Hill will lose $705,882.

Depending on what transpires in his other legal case, Hill could face additional punishment from the league, which may void the guarantees on his $6 million dollar base salary.

Should those guarantees void, and Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com thinks they will, the Seahawks may be inclined to get out from under the five years and $29 million dollars remaining on the oft-injured linebacker's contract.
