Saints T Bushrod, DT Ayodele Sign RFA Tenders

New Orleans Saints restricted free agent offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod and defensive tackle Remi Ayodele have signed their one-year tenders, the Associated Press reports.

Bushrod, who stepped in for injured Pro Bowler Jammal Brown to start 17 games at left tackle in 2009, including all three of the Saints' playoff games, was tendered at the second-round level. The former fourth-round pick (125th overall) out of Towson in 2007 was not eligible for unrestricted free agency, and his base salary next season will be $1.684 million dollars.

Ayodele is an 6-2, 318-pound defensive tackle from the University of Oklahoma who signed with the New England Patriots after going undrafted in 2006. Ayodele had stints with the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, and Atlanta Falcons before signing with the Saints' practice squad at the start of the 2008 season.

Ayodele started 13 games for the Saints last season, totaling 30 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks. The Saints tendered him at the "Right of First Refusal" level, which carries a $1.101 million dollar base salary, and no draft choice compensation had he signed an offer sheet with another club.

Bushrod, Ayodele, and David Thomas join Jeff Charleston, Anthony Hargrove, and Zach Strief as Saints restricted free agents who have signed their one-year tenders.
