Saints Add Bender, Collins to Practice Squad

When the New Orleans Saints return to the practice field this week, they'll have a pair of new faces on the practice squad.

Offensive lineman Jacob Bender and fullback Jed Collins have been signed to the eight-man squad, a league source said. Bender and Collins replace guard Brandon Carter and fullback Matt Clapp, a pair of undrafted rookies.

Bender was a sixth-round pick out of Nicholls State by the New York Jets in 2007. After appearing in two games for the Jets as a rookie, Bender has spent much of his first two seasons on practice squads with the New England Patriots and New York Giants, with a brief stay on the San Francisco 49ers' active roster dividing his p-squad stints.

Collins (6-1, 255) joins his seventh NFL franchise since going undrafted out of Washington State in 2008. Collins has been with the Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals, and most recently, the Tennessee Titans.

Bender's signing was initially reported by Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com.
