Redskins Trade QB Jason Campbell to the Raiders

The Washington Redskins have traded restricted free agent quarterback Jason Campbell to the Oakland Raiders, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.

Return compensation is reported to be an undisclosed conditional draft choice, and the Raiders and Campbell have already agreed to a two-year contract that will keep him in the fold through the 2011 season, with La Canfora reporting that Campbell may have received $4.5 million dollars in new money, on top of the $3.143 million dollars he was set to make under the one-year restricted free agent tender.

Chosen by the Redskins with the 25th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Auburn, Campbell is entering his sixth season in the NFL. In 52 career games, all starts, Campbell has completed 61.2% of his 1,637 pass attempts, and has thrown for 10,860 yards, 55 touchdown and 38 interceptions for a career passer rating of 82.3.

Last season, the first in which Campbell played in the same offensive system in back-to-back years, Campbell set career highs with a 64.5% completion percentage, 3,618 yards, 20 touchdowns, and an 86.4 passer rating.

The 6-5, 230-pound Campbell has the big, powerful down-field arm that Raiders owner Al Davis covets, and he's also run for 786 yards and 3 touchdowns during his career.
