Redskins Sign RB James Davis to Practice Squad

The Washington Redskins have signed free agent running back James Davis to their practice squad, reports Rick Maese of the Washington Post.

Davis was placed on waivers by the Cleveland Browns on Monday.

A sixth-round pick (195th overall) out of Clemson by the Browns in 2009, the 5-11, 207-pound Davis has 24 yards on 13 carries in six games over the last two seasons, adding four receptions for 5 yards and a tackle on special teams.

Davis spent much of his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, and had fallen behind Peyton Hillis and Mike Bell on the Browns' depth chart, leading to him being inactive in each of the last three weeks.

Washington will need to delete one player from the practice squad, which added running back Jeremiah Johnson on Monday.
