Patriots LB Pierre Woods Signs RFA Tender

New England Patriots restricted free agent linebacker Pierre Woods has signed his one-year tender, Christopher L. Gasper of the Boston Globe reports.

An undrafted free agent from Michigan, Woods was tendered at the "Right of First Refusal" level, and will earn $1.176M in 2010. This is the second season Woods will play under a one-year tender, as he was tendered at the "Second Round" level in 2009, earning $1.545 million dollars as he started a career-high five games, making a career-high 36 tackles, including a team-high 19 on special teams.

Gasper notes that Woods could have waited until June 1, when the Patriots would've had to make a choice about whether to "re-tender" him at 110% his 2009 base salary ($1.699M) or grant him unrestricted free agency.

Woods is the second Patriots restricted free agent to sign his tender, as kicker Stephen Gostkowski signed over the weekend. Pro Bowl guard Logan Mankins has yet to sign his tender.
