Panthers Lose DE Brown, LB Williams For Season

Carolina Panthers defensive end Everette Brown and linebacker Jason Williams will be placed on injured reserve, Darin Gantt of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Brown needs wrist surgery, while Williams missed Sunday's game with what's now determined to be a torn ACL.

Carolina traded a 2010 first-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers to move up in the second-round of the 2009 NFL Draft to select Brown, a 6-1, 256-pound defensive end from Florida State. In 28 games over the last two seasons, Brown has started three times, and has 47 tackles and 6 quarterback sacks.

Brown had 1.5 quarterback sacks in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Williams was a third-round pick (69th overall) out of Western Illinois by the Dallas Cowboys in 2009. Claimed off waivers in Week 9, Williams has started two of his four games with the Panthers, totaling 16 tackles and a pair of passes defensed.
