Packers Release CB Al Harris

The Green Bay Packers announced that they have placed veteran cornerback Al Harris on waivers.

Jason Wilde of ESPNMilwaukee reported last night that Harris, who has been on the physically unable to perform list, would be released on Monday.

Harris is recovering from major reconstructive knee surgery, and today was the deadline for the Packers to activate Harris from PUP or place him on season-ending injured reserve. Because the trade deadline has passed, Harris will be exposed to the waiver-wire.

A sixth-round pick out of Texas A&M-Kingsville by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1997, Harris has 21 career interceptions and 4 quarterback sacks during a 12-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles (1998-2002) and Packers (2003-09), where he earned two trips to the Pro Bowl following the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
