Jets to Add WR Patrick Turner to Active Roster

Before Sunday night's game against the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets will elevate wide receiver Patrick Turner from the practice squad to their active roster, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Turner was a third-round pick (87th overall) out of USC by the Dolphins in 2009. Turner appeared in just two games for the Dolphins, and did not post a single reception. Turner had 7 receptions for 90 yards this pre-season, but was waived as part of Miami's final roster cuts.

The Jets claimed Turner off waivers, only to waive him a few days later and re-sign him to their practice squad.

Turner caught 138 passes for 1,752 yards and 17 touchdowns during his career at USC, where he played with Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez. With Braylon Edwards perhaps playing a reduced role on Sunday night, the 6-5, 220-pound Turner may dress and see some playing time against the team that dumped him after one season.

Offensive tackle Patrick Brown has been waived to add Turner to the active roster, Mehta adds.
