The New York Jets have added linebacker Shawn Crable to their practice squad, Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reports.

Defensive back Will Billingsley has been released.

A third-round pick (78th overall) out of the University of Michigan by the New England Patriots in 2008, Crable did not appear in an NFL game prior to this season, where in six games, Crable had four tackles and split a quarterback sack with former teammate Mike Wright.

The Jets also re-signed defensive end Jarron Gilbert to the practice squad. Gilbert had been waived when wide receiver Patrick Turner was signed to the active roster.
