Interesting Nugget From Clausen's Pro Day

Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen worked out for 16 NFL teams during his pro day in South Bend, Indiana on Friday morning, the reviews of which are mostly positive.

"I saw everything I need to see," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said, according to Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com. "He had a strong arm. Good accuracy. I saw what I expected to see."

ESPN's Adam Schefter was impressed that Clausen spoke to ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay, who has been highly critical of Clausen. Sports Illustrated's Tony Pauline thought Clausen's workout was solid, not spectacular, adding that "it's unlikely scouts came away from Notre Dame thinking he had stamped himself as a Top 10 pick."

As Gil Brandt of NFL.com reported, Clausen was put through a private, three-hour workout with the Seattle Seahawks, as well. Though I believe that three-hour private workout is merely the Seahawks doing their due diligence on Clausen, there is an interesting nugget that warrants mentioning.

Pauline notes that Clausen's workout was scripted and run by Marc Trestman, a former NFL offensive coordinator who now coaches the CFL's Montreal Alouettes. This is the same Marc Trestman who Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said was in the Seahawks' office on Wednesday.

"Great to have marc trestman in our office today... A CFL coaching legend! Won the championship in 09 grey cup...", Carroll tweeted at 3:36pm PT on April 7.

Free advice for Pete Carroll: Stop tweeting.

Leave it to the very capable digits of the Seahawks Communications Department, which now officially includes Ben Malcolmsen, who was the director of online media for the USC football program the last three years.
