Giants Experimenting With Kiwanuka at LB

New York Giants defensive ends Mathias Kiwanuka and Dave Tollefson could see some time at linebacker this season, reports Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.

"We’ll see how it goes," the 6-5, 265-pound Kiwanuka said. "Perry (Fewell) said he’s going to try to use everybody to their strengths, get a lot of different match-ups, a lot of different looks. This should be just the beginning of it."

Moving Kiwanuka off the line on passing situations could be a way for the Giants to have Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, and Jason Pierre-Paul on the field at the same time, which could case some pass-protection problems for the opposing offense.

Vacchiano notes that Kiwanuka struggled at the linebacker position during his rookie season in 2007.
