Browns Sign WR Bobby Engram

The Cleveland Browns announced the signing of veteran wide receiver Bobby Engram.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A second-round pick out of Penn State by the Chicago Bears in 1996, Engram has 650 receptions for 7,751 yards and 35 touchdowns during his career. The bulk of his production came between 2001-08, when Engram played for Browns president Mike Holmgren with the Seattle Seahawks.

Engram (5-10, 192) was coming off a serious knee injury when he signed with the Seahawks, but in 8 years, caught 399 passes for 4,859 yards and 18 touchdowns, and is in the franchise's Top 5 in receptions and yards.

Engram emerged as one of Holmgren's favorite players, with Holmgren requesting that Engram be re-signed before the 2006 season, during which Engram missed considerable time after being diagnosed with Grave's disease. Engram returned in 2007 to set the Seahawks' single-season receptions record (94) and a career-high 1,147 yards, and earned a few votes for that seasons' NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

With Holmgren out the door, the Seahawks opted to not re-sign Engram, who spent a portion of the '09 season with the Kansas City Chiefs, catching 5 passes for 61 yards before he was released in October.

Engram turned 37 in January.
