Branch Restructures Final Year of Contract

Ron Borges of the Boston Herald reports that New England Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch has agreed to restructure the final year of his contract.

Branch was scheduled to earn $5.95 million in 2011, the final year of his six-year, $39.5 million contract he signed with the Seattle Seahawks, who sent a first-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft to acquire him from New England on September 11, 2006.

Exact terms of Branch's restructure were not disclosed, but Borges reports that Branch's base salary has been "significantly lowered", but through incentives, Branch can earn up to $4 million next season.

The prorated portion of Branch's $5.47 million base salary in 2010 ($3.861M) has not been altered.
