Bills Grant Unanimous Consent to NFLPA to Decertify

The Buffalo Bills became the latest team to vote to authorize the NFL Players Association to decertify next year, Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News reports.

"We did have the vote, and we did vote in favor to give the players association the option to decertify our union in the event that no collective bargaining agreement is reached before the March deadline," Bills safety and union rep George Wilson said. "This is not to say that we're going to decertify. This is just an opportunity to keep our options open. This is a move we could possibly use in order to challenge the league's antitrust exemption in the court system."

Wilson added that he fully expects a lockout to happen, and that he's advised his teammates to save their money.

Unofficially, the Bills, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins have all granted authorization to decertify itself next year, which could prevent a lockout attempt by the owners in March 2011 as it would allow the union to sue the NFL under United States anti-trust laws.
