The Chicago Bears announced that they have placed running back Harvey Unga on injured reserve.

Presumably, Unga will be placed on waivers, and if he clears, will be placed on IR, ending his rookie season.

UPDATE: Unga will continue to count against the 80-man roster limit, and will revert to IR when the team cuts down to 75 players.

Unga was hampered by an ankle injury prior to the 2010 Supplemental Draft, but hasn't been able to participate in recent practices due to a hamstring injury.
