The Minnesota Vikings released former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings on Saturday.

Jennings left the Packers organization in 2013, choosing to sign with the Vikings as a free agent.

The Vikings parted ways with Jennings just two years into a five-year, $45 million deal with $17.8 million in guaranteed money.

Jennings' release comes on the heels of the Vikings acquiring wide receiver Mike Wallace through a trade with the Miami Dolphins.

Ben Goessling of ESPN.com reports that Jennings was asked to restructure his deal, but the two sides couldn't come to an agreement.

Jennings becomes a free agent, able to sign with any team he chooses.

A return to Green Bay would appear to be unlikely with the Packers committed to Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb as their top two receivers along with three wide receivers taken during the 2014 NFL Draft, not to mention Jennings' contentious relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

No doubt there are no guarantees in the NFL. I don't know what he'll do but I'd be OK with Ted/Russ Ball offering G.Jennings a contract for 2015. Jennings would be a good back-up slot receiver for the Packers. I think Aaron Rodgers would be OK with Jennings' return...might even recommend it....but I'm obviously speculating...

He'll probably wind-up in Oakland...or maybe Miami...or...

not surprised. He could have stuck around, kept up his stats, earned some good $$$ and maybe finished it up here. He went for the money and then shot off his mouth. Maybe Miami or Oakland?

I agree with you on the Miami or Oakland connection.

Personally I hope he goes to Jacksonville or a team like that and never heard from again. He totally disrespected Rodgers and the Packers and he deserves what he's getting.

I'll be interested to see where he lands. Too bad he had to act like such an ass after he left.

Hardly. They did him a favor asking for the paycut, gave him an easy way out of that pit of despair.

Jennings is 31 and hasn't had a 1000 yard season since 2010. Not much market for guys that have those two facts attached to their resume.

When Jennings left the Packers two years ago, he was greedy, overestimated his own ability and bad-mouthing Aaron Rodgers. He deserves what he's getting.

Cant speak for anyone else but I forgave him almost as soon as he said the stuff he said. I understood it, he was mad and people can say dumb things when they are mad. Tried talking up his new team by taking shots at his former team, you know that old chestnut.

Id love to see him get signed again but I assume he wants more than GB can/will pay so im sure it wont happen. Baltimore seems like it could be a pretty good fit for him, they like comp picks as much or more than us so hes perfect for them because he was cut. Purple Jerseys there so he wont have to change his wardrobe again.

Not bitter towards GJ, but I think Brian is right - there is no room on this team for him right now. Maybe in September if someone doesn't pan out, but TT does not give up on his draft picks.

His fall has been Shakespearean-esque
Quotes from Greg:
"It's like everything that you know in Green Bay is like the best, the best, the best, the best, the best," Jennings continued. "And it's like total brainwashing. And I think you don't open your eyes to see what other teams have to offer unless you are in that position, and I was afforded this position."

"It's a phenomenal organization. I had to make my departure," Jennings said. "There were some things said that, man, if I could say it over again, I would have to reword it so they that it could be conveyed a little differently. But they were said. I can't focus on that. I have to focus on the now.

"I have a lot of love for everyone in that locker room. I know this is a rivalry, but I don't hate anyone over there."
"There was things said if I could take back, I absolutely would. But I can't," Jennings said. "I have to live life with the cards I dealt myself. They're the cards that are sometimes dealt not of your own choice."

"They are cards that are sometimes dealt not of your own choice???!!?" Total BS, his cards had a few more dollars on em. Plus he must have said some shit to his big mouth sister for her to spout off and embarrass everyone. He thought HE was that good. Turned out Favre/Rodgers made his career.

He would fit a need in Chicago. They could really use a guy with his combination of decent speed, hands, and route running ability.

I also think he gets somewhat of a bad wrap from Packer fans. He was a decent dude when playing well here for many years. Yes, he talked some crap on the way out the door but a good part of that was trying to endear himself to a new fan base. He certainly is a guy that needed his ego stroked but I'm guessing the last two years may have cured that issue a bit also.

But, no way TT brings him back. They just don't have a need at WR. If they did need a WR, I doubt his prior comments would prevent a deal. He needs a contract and the team needs a player....they'd work it out.

I think there's 4 teams that would be very interested in Jennings, Miami, Seattle, New England, and Kansas City. Jennings is exactly the guy New England would sign and Miami would have to interest him because of Philbin and no state taxes. With jennings it's ALL about the money as well all know.

His best bet is to come to training camp with the Pack, get cut, and inevitably sign with Minnesota again.

Just the ones that leave talking trash about the organization that got him a SB ring and the QB that threw him the ball.

Hold grudges??? No, I see it as being able to recognize a douchebag when I see one. Jennings isn't as bad Farve, but he's close. They both played the nice fun loving Packer persona while here, and you found out rather quickly that it was all just a gag. Too bad some people still buy into it. They are both a holes....rich a holes, but a holes nonetheless.

The jilted girlfriend effect is obviously still at play among a certain segment of packer fans.
