Packers Sign Another former Raven, Safety Jackson Porter.

The Packers continue to look at players who have been through the Ravens' system, no doubt thanks to the influence of Director of Football Operations Milt Hendrickson, who spent 14 seasons in the Raven's personnel department. Yesterday they signed former Ravens linebacker Nicholas Grigsby and today they announced the signing of safety Jackson Porter.

The 6'0" 200 lb. Porter spent the 2018 preseason in the Ravens' camp but was released after the final preseason game. Porter spent four seasons with the University of Massachusetts, playing in 42 games and starting seven.

To make room for Porter, the Packers waived/Injured Safety Mike Tyson, who left last week's preseaosn game with an injury and did not return.

Can’t say it’s a bad plan to keep an eye out for available Ravens defensive players. Their defensive system is usually very good

Doesn’t cost anything to check these guys out. Plus gives us bodies for Thursday evening. Go Gute Go!
Thanks, Since ‘61

There is a story here that I can’t find. UDFA makes it to the final cuts, then is out of football, including a PS berth, yet liked enough by Hendrickson to bring in here for a look see.

If Hendrickson saw some long term or other untapped facet (Grigsby as a cover type?) of players he encountered, why wouldn’t we look at them?

In a situation where we want as many bodies as we can for Thursday that are on the outside looking in, which apparently is the case, players that can’t play and aren’t making the 53 are a hindrance that could get someone we want injured.

Some could say we've taken a page from the Vikings FO handbook and have a limo parked outside Ravens stadium. : )

That's good: we'll take useful defensive players any way we can get them.

One UDFA I wish we had gotten was Preston Williams. If you haven't seen some of his highlight reel catches for the Dolphins (sideline grabs, a one handed catch on a bomb), then you're missing out.

Why am I surprised the Packers didn't pursue him after the draft? Our new WRs coach, Alvis Whitted, coached Williams at Colorado State and surely would have had inside information on him...or maybe the Dolphins just got to him first.

Ravens defenders can all tackle. Bringing guys with that mentality cant hurt, even if it is the bottom of the roster.

As much as I laugh at the Lions trying to copy the Patriots, I don't mind making our own version of the Ravens defense in GB! I'll take these fliers along for the final week if Gutey likes them. Db's everywhere!
