Vikings to Add "Gridiron Club" to Metrodome

The Minnesota Vikings have been unsuccessful in getting a new stadium built, but they will take advantage of the Minnesota Twins moving out of the Metrodome by converting office space used by the Twins to create "The Gridiron Club", a members-only lounge that would be open before, during, and after games in the Metrodome.

Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports the Club will occupy a 3,800-square foot area, and will provide customers with a view of the plaza outside the Metrodome, but won’t include views of the playing field.

"This would be a short-term benefit for us from a revenue standpoint," Vikings Chief Marketing Officer Steve LaCroix said. "It does not create a stadium solution or satisfy things for the long term. But it would help bridge the gap for the next couple of years to add an amenity that we feel fits into the area and something we didn’t have from a hospitality offering standpoint."

Zulgad adds that "The Gridiron Club", which will likely have corporate sponsorship, could rake in $300,000 in annual revenue.
