UFL Denies Player NFL Opportunity
By admin
The United Football League prevented one its players from signing an NFL contract, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.
Kicker Nick Novak, who has 19 career field goals in 22 NFL games with the Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins, was recently offered a contract by an unspecified NFL team.
The Florida Tuskers, Novak's UFL club, were willing to release him from their agreement before UFL Commissioner Michael Huyghue intervened.
Wilson adds that Huyghue turned down a $150,000 offer from the NFL team to release Novak from his UFL contract.
Novak has also had stints with the Chicago Bears (twice), Dallas Cowboys, and San Diego Chargers, who he went to training camp in 2010 with, converting 2-of-3 field goal attempts before he was released.
