Sharper Re-Signs With the Saints

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports free agent safety Darren Sharper is staying with the New Orleans Saints, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal.

Sharper, 34, had a Pro Bowl season with the New Orleans Saints in 2009, totaling 71 tackles and tying for the league lead in interceptions with 9, helping the Saints win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.

A second-round pick out of William & Mary by the Green Bay Packers in 1997, Sharper has 63 interceptions and 11 touchdowns during a 14-year career with the Packers (1997-2004), Minnesota Vikings (2005-08) and Saints (2009).

The five-time Pro Bowler was named to the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2000s in January, and is coming off knee surgery.

Sharper visited the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, but left town without a contract offer.
