Seahawks Release DT Kevin Vickerson

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Seattle Seahawks have released defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson.

The Seahawks acquired Vickerson from the Tennessee Titans during the third day of the 2010 NFL Draft. A restricted free agent tendered at the "Second Round" level, Vickerson (6-4, 320) and LenDale White were acquired along with the two teams swapping picks in the fourth- and sixth-rounds of the draft.

The Seahawks used their fourth-round pick on Walter Thurmond and sixth-round pick on Anthony McCoy, while the Titans drafted cornerback Alterraun Verner and quarterback Rusty Smith.

Vickerson played well at the start of the pre-season as a space-eating defensive tackle, totaling three tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage. His play tailed off, though, and with the Seahawks set to sign Junior Siavii, Vickerson and his nearly $2 million salary was likely more appealing to a Seahawks' front office that will pay T.J. Houshmandzadeh nearly $7 million to not play for them this season.
