Seahawks LB David Hawthorne Signs ERFA Tender

ESPN's Mike Sando reports that Seattle Seahawks linebacker David Hawthorne is on the field warming up before the team's first practice of training camp, which means that Hawthorne has signed his "Exclusive Rights Free Agent" tender.
Hawthorne had signed an injury waiver that allowed him to participate in the OTAs and mini-camps.
Signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of TCU in 2008, Hawthorne was a core member of the special teams in 2008 before starting 11 of 16 games at middle linebacker for an injured Lofa Tatupu. Hawthorne led the Seahawks in tackles with 116, including four quarterback sacks, and tied for the team lead with 3 interceptions.
Hawthorne spent a portion of the off-season workouts at outside linebacker, and could start in the regular season opener when troubled linebacker Leroy Hill is suspended.
There was no need to make a roster move for Hawthorne, as wide receiver Sean Morey retired this morning.
