Seahawks Add QB Robinson, T Giacomini Off Practice Squad

The Seattle Seahawks announced that they have signed quarterback Zac Robinson and offensive tackle Breno Giacomini off the practice squad.

Wide receiver Ruvell Martin and center/guard Chris White, signed earlier this week, were released.

Robinson will be the #2 quarterback behind Charlie Whitehurst, who will be making his first NFL start for the injured Matt Hasselbeck, who suffered a concussion in last week's 33-3 loss to the Oakland Raiders. Giamcomini provides depth at the offensive tackle, as the Seahawks are expected to be without Russell Okung (doubtful, ankle) and Tyler Polumbus (questionable, knee) on Sunday against the New York Giants.

A seventh-round pick (250th overall) out of Oklahoma State by the New England Patriots in 2010, Robinson completed 6-of-15 pass attempts for 71 yards and a 55.1 passer rating. Placed on waivers at the end of training camp by New England, Robinson agreed to a practice squad contract with the Seahawks in the first week of the regular season, reuniting with former OSU teammate Russell Okung, the sixth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Robinson was three-year starter at OSU, where he completed 61% of his 999 pass attempts for 8,317 yards, with 66 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. A talented athlete, Robinson also ran for 1,966 yards and 22 touchdowns for the Cowboys.

Giacomini (6-7, 303) was a fifth-round pick out of Louisville by the Green Bay Packers in 2008. Giacomini opened the 2010 season on the Packers' practice squad, but was signed to the Seahawks' active roster on September 28. Waived on October 23, Giacomini was re-signed to the practice squad the following week.
