Saints Release DE Bobby McCray

For the second time this off-season, the New Orleans Saints have released defensive end Bobby McCray.

The Saints released McCray on June 21, reportedly to avoid paying a $1.25 million dollar roster bonus that was due at the end of the month. McCray's new deal reportedly included a $1.5 million base salary, with an additional $1 million available in incentives.

McCray had a pair of tackles in four pre-season games.

A seventh-round pick out of the University of Florida by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2004, McCray totaled 93 tackles, including 22 quarterback sacks over his first four seasons in the NFL. During his two seasons with the Saints, McCray started 8 of 32 games, posting 41 tackles, including 7.5 quarterback sacks.
