Saints OL Zach Strief Signs RFA Tender

According to his agent, Ralph Cindrich, New Orleans Saints restricted free agent offensive lineman Zach Strief has signed his one-year tender.

Strief entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick (210th overall) by the Saints out of Northwestern in 2006. The 6-7, 320-pound guard/tackle has started 5 of his 57 career games, but is often used as a blocking tight end in Sean Payton's offense.

Strief signed a three-year contract as a rookie in 2006, but was not eligible for unrestricted free agency when it expired after the 2008 season. Strief played last season under a one-year, $1.545 million dollar restricted free agent tender, and New Orleans placed the "Second Round" tender on Strief in February, which comes with a $1.759 million dollar base salary for 2010.

Strief becomes the third Saints' restricted free agent to sign his tender, joining defensive ends Jeff Charleston and Anthony Hargrove. Restricted free agent running back Mike Bell signed an offer sheet with the Philadelphia Eagles, which the Saints declined to match.

New Orleans has 12 restricted free agents who have not signed their one-year tenders.
