Saints Asst. DL Coach Suspended Without Pay

New Orleans Saints assistant defensive line coach Travis Jones has been suspended 30 days without pay for his role in a real estate scam in Texas, the Associated Press reports.

"Coach Jones has accepted responsibility for his actions and has cooperated with the investigation of this matter and will also be participating in a program to educate others in the league about his experience," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said in a written statement released on Monday. "The actions of Travis Jones violate the NFL's personal conduct policy and the policies and standards of conduct for employees of the New Orleans Saints."

Jones admitted to his role in the scam, for which he received $86,000. Jones has been with the Saints since the 2008 season, joining the organization after spending three seasons coaching the Miami Dolphins' defensive ends and outside linebackers. Jones has also coached at LSU, Kansas, Appalachian State, and the University of Georgia, his alma mater.
