Ravens Trade QB John Beck to the Redskins

Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times reports the Baltimore Ravens have traded backup quarterback John Beck to the Washington Redskins.

In exchange for Beck, the Ravens acquired backup cornerback Doug Dutch.

A second-round pick (40th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft out of BYU by the Miami Dolphins, Beck started four games during Miami's 1-15 season, completing 56.1% of his passes for 559 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions.

Waived by the Dolphins last April, Beck joined the Ravens in May and spent last season as the #3 quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Troy Smith. With the addition of veteran Marc Bulger last month, Beck was fourth on the Ravens' depth chart.

Beck was a restricted free agent this off-season, and was tendered at the "Original Round" level, which will pay him a $1.101 million base salary this season.

In Washington, Beck will compete with Richard Bartel and Colt Brennan for the third quarterback job behind Donovan McNabb and Rex Grossman.
