Rams S O.J. Atogwe Hours Away From Free Agency
By admin
Talks between the St. Louis Rams and restricted free agent safety O.J. Atogwe continue tonight, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that if Atogwe becomes a free agent at 12am ET, the sixth-year safety from Stanford will generate interest from the Minnesota Vikings, Miami Dolphins, and Dallas Cowboys.
The Rams are talking with Atogwe's agent, Ken Landphere, about a long-term contract, and could always place the one-year, restricted free agent tender on Atogwe, which would come with a $6.976 million dollar base salary in 2010.
A third-round pick (66th overall) by the Rams in 2005, Atogwe started 60 straight games before injuring his shoulder late last season, which he played under the one-year franchise tag. In 72 career games, Atogwe has 317 tackles, 3 quarterback sacks, and 19 interceptions, with 29 pass break-ups and 14 forced fumbles.
