Rams Cut Three Players

Bill Coats of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the St. Louis Rams announced the release of three players, including first-year quarterback Mike Reilly.

Cornerback Marcus Brown and wide receiver Travis Brown were the other two players released on Tuesday.

An undrafted free agent from Central Washington, Reilly completed 10-of-15 passes for 117 yards with the Pittsburgh Steelers last summer. Sacked five times, as well, Reilly waived at the end of training camp and hit the workout circuit. Signed to the Green Bay Packers' practice squad on November 19, the Rams added Reilly to their active roster on December 9, where he was the emergency third quarterback for the final month of the regular season.

With the selection of Sam Bradford with the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, and 2009 sixth-round pick Keith Null on the roster, Reilly was likely viewed as expendable. By releasing him now, the Rams allow Reilly to hook on with another club.
