Raiders Sign Veldheer, Campbell

The Oakland Raiders announced that they have signed third-round offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, as well as fourth-round offensive tackle Bruce Campbell.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Veldheer is a 6-8, 312-pound product of Hillsdale College, where he was a three-time all-Great Lakes Conference selection. Veldheer was a two-time first-team All-GLIAC selection after his junior and senior seasons, and a first-team Division II All-American after last season.

Veldheer could push Mario Henderson for the Raiders' left tackle job this season.

Campbell was the star of the 2010 Scouting Combine, with the 6-6, 314-pound offensive lineman ran a blazing 4.75-second time in the 40-yard dash, while doing 34 reps on the bench press. Campbell is very raw--just 17 starts in college before turning pro--and is expected to play guard or right tackle at the next level.

Veldheer and Campbell are the first of the Raiders' nine picks in the 2010 NFL Draft to sign contracts.

It will be interesting to see what campbell makes of his career as he was tiped to go in the first round and droped all the way to the fourth. From memory I cant remember a player that droped so far from his predicted round?
