Raiders Sign 2nd Round DE Lamarr Houston

The Oakland Raiders announced that they have signed second-round defensive end Lamarr Houston.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Houston was a three-year starter at the University of Texas, playing both defensive tackle and defensive end. In 49 career games, Houston totaled 160 tackles, including 41 for a loss and 14 quarterback sacks, with 13 pass break-ups.

After struggling with a foot injury and an off-field issue (DWI arrest) in 2008, Houston set career-highs with 20 tackles for a loss and 7 quarterback sacks in 2009, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors.

The 6-3, 305-pound Houston ran a 4.84-40 at the Combine, and posted 30 reps on the bench press. The Raiders plan to capitalize on Houston’s versatility, playing him at tackle and end on their defensive line.

Houston's signing leaves first-round linebacker Rolando McClain as the Raiders' lone unsigned pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. Raiders rookies and veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 28.
