The New England Patriots announced the signing of safety Sergio Brown off their practice squad.

Running back Thomas Clayton has been released.

Brown, an undrafted rookie free agent from Notre Dame, had 12 tackles for New England during the pre-season and has been on the team's practice squad since Week 1.

A frequent wearer of a black practice jersey, which the Patriots use to indicate their top practice players from the previous week, Brown will likely fill Jarrad Page's roles on special teams on Sunday.

Page was ruled out for tomorrow's game against the San Diego Chargers with a calf injury.
