New England Patriots defensive lineman Mike Wright has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced.

Wright started five of 10 games, totaling 14 tackles and a career-high 5.5 quarterback sacks, before missing the last six games with a head injury.

With Wright on injured reserve, the Patriots will not have to make a roster move when rookie inside linebacker Brandon Spikes' roster exemption ends on Monday.
