Patriots, Jets Make Anticipated Moves Official

A pair of anticipated transactions from the New England Patriots and New York Jets were made official late Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots announced that third-year linebacker Shawn Crable has been signed off the practice squad to fill the 53rd spot on the active roster, which was vacated when the club placed veteran running back Kevin Faulk (torn ACL) on injured reserve earlier this week.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reported the Crable transaction on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Jets ramped up the AFC East gamesmanship by elevating wide receiver Patrick Turner off the practice squad in advance of tomorrow night's game against the Miami Dolphins.

Turner (6-5, 220) was a third-round pick out of USC by the Dolphins in 2009, but was waived earlier this month and claimed by the Jets.

The Dolphins have already answered to the Jets' move by claiming guard Patrick Brown off waivers from the Jets. Brown was waived by the Jets on Thursday to clear a spot on the 53-man roster for Turner.
