MTI Names WA State HQ After Holmgrens

Medical Teams International has announced that they will name their Washington state regional headquarters, which is presently in the design and construction phase, after longtime volunteers Mike and Kathy Holmgren.

The Redmond, Washington-based facility will be known as the "Medical Teams International Mike and Kathy Holmgren Center".

"We are grateful for Mike and Kathy Holmgren’s tireless enthusiasm around helping those in need through Medical Teams International and we are proud to announce our new regional headquarters will be named in their honor," said Linda Ranz, vice president of development for Medical Teams International.

"This is truly a remarkable honor," said Mike Holmgren. "We are thankful for the opportunities we’ve had through Medical Teams International to help less fortunate people all over the world, but as honored as we are by this recognition, we are no different than the thousands of other MTI volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the years to help others."

A nurse, Kathy Holmgren served a ten-month medical mission to the Congo in 1970, and returned to that country in 2006 with their daughter, Dr. Calla Holmgren, while her husband coached the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. Kathy has also been on MTI relief missions to Mexico, Romania, Rwanda, and Uganda.

Currently the President of the Cleveland Browns, Holmgren accompanied his wife on a MTI relief mission to Mexico in 2009, after his his ten-year run as head coach of the Seahawks came to an end.
