Lions Waive OT Tyler Polumbus

Less than a week after claiming him off waivers from the Denver Broncos, the Detroit Lions have waived offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus, reports Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

Signed by the Broncos as an undrafted free agent from the University of Colorado in 2008, Polumbus (6-8, 330) was active in 31 of 32 games over the last two seasons. Polumbus started 8 games at right tackle for the Broncos in 2009, but was not a fit for Denver's new power-blocking system.

Despite his size, Polumbus is athletic and more suited to play in a zone-blocking scheme that Denver used to run. The Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks, zone-blocking teams, placed waiver claims on Polumbus, but he was awarded to the Lions.
