Lions Sign K Steven Hauschka and CB T.J. Rushing

Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports the Detroit Lions have signed free agent kicker Steven Hauschka and cornerback T.J. Rushing.

Rookie kicker Aaron Pettrey has been waived, and cornerback Jahi Word-Daniels was "Waived/Injured" after going down with a hamstring injury on his first day of practice after re-signing with the Lions on Tuesday.

Hauschka was waived by the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday after going 1-for-2 on field goal attempts during the pre-season opener, connecting from 37 yards out and coming up short on a 50-yard attempt. Hauschka converted on his one extra point, and kicked off twice.

Rushing (5-9, 186) was a seventh-round pick out of Stanford in 2006 by the Indianapolis Colts, where he totaled 30 tackles and a pass defensed in 35 games. Rushing also averaged 22.7 yards on 40 kick returns, and 9.1 yards on 42 punt returns. Rushing averaged 13.1 yards on punt returns in 2007, returning one punt 90 yards for a touchdown against the Oakland Raiders.
