Lions Receive 24-Hour Extension to Avoid Blackout

The Detroit Lions have received a 24-hour extension to sell enough tickets to avoid a blackout, reports Tom Kowalski of MLive.com.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Lions had less than 3,000 tickets to sell before 1pm ET today to avoid having their home-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles blacked out on local television.

That an extension was granted is a sign that in the last 24 hours, the team has moved closer to a sell out, and that in all likelihood, Sunday's game will be shown locally.
