Knee Injury Steers Roehl Towards Coaching Career

Fourteen months ago, Seattle Seahawks fans were intrigued by Tyler Roehl, a 5-10, 233-pound running back who had racked up nearly 2,500 yards and 34 touchdowns on the ground over the previous two seasons at North Dakota State.

Unfortunately, Roehl tore the ACL in his left knee during an OTA session on June 1, and spent the season on injured reserve. Roehl was waived from the Seahawks roster in March.

After unsuccessful tryouts with the Minnesota Vikings and the UFL, is trading in his cleats for a whistle.

Eric Peterson of INFORUM reports Roehl has accepted the running backs coach position at Concordia College (MN), where he'll also be the offensive coordinator for the junior varsity team.

"It’s time to move on I think and just start a different chapter," the 24-year old Roehl said. "I wanted it to be a few years down the road, but now is a great time more than ever. I’ve got a great opportunity.

"I’m not mad or regretting anything with my football career," Roehl said. "I felt like I went as far as I could. I had a great opportunity. Injuries happen in football and you can’t look back at anything and have any regrets, and I don’t."
