Jets Owner: "No Progress" in Revis Talks

According to the team's official Twitter account, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson says "no progress" has been made in contract negotiations with All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Jenny Vrentas of The Star-Ledger reports that Johnson doubts Revis will be with the team for the season-opener on September 13.

"Based on the meeting we had last Friday, that Mike had, that’s the conclusion," Johnson said. "That’s my feeling right at this moment. It can be a flexible feeling, but as of right now, I have to say no."

Revis is looking for a long-term contract that would make him one of the highest-paid players in the NFL, and has yet to report to training camp.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum had a face-to-face meeting with Jonathan Feinsod and Neil Schwartz, Revis' agents, last Friday in Roscoe, New York. According to Feinsod, they presented a contract proposal to Tannenaum to take back to Johnson for review, and had been awaiting the owner's response.

They just got it.

To avoid losing an accrued season towards unrestricted free agency, and possibly jeopardizing the $20 million in guarantees remaining on his rookie contract, Revis will need to report to training camp by tomorrow.
