Jags 1st Round DT Tyson Alualu Knows NFL Is A Business

Jacksonville Jaguars first-round defensive tackle Tyson Alualu understands that the NFL is a business.

"Since the first day I came in, a lot of players advised me on understanding that what I do here is first and foremost a business," Alualu said, according to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union.

"It is crazy growing up and having that dream of playing in the NFL, and you get here, and it's not just football," Alualu said. "It's definitely a business. I am learning new things every day."

According to Stellino, as Alualu prepares for his first NFL training camp, the 10th overall pick out of Cal is leaving the business side to his agent, Ken Zuckerman of Chicago-based Priority Sports & Entertainment.

"That's something I just have to leave to my agent and trust him. It's just out of my hands," Alualu said of contract negotiations, which Zuckerman says have yet to begin. "It's going to be up to him. That is what I hired him for, so he's going to do his job."

According to several sources, the Jaguars were once again waiting until after the July 4th holiday to being contract talks with their incoming draft class. The Jaguars open training camp on July 29, and while Alualu may not sign until then, or a few days into camp, the rest of the Jaguars' draft class should be in the fold well in advance of the reporting date.
