The Philadelphia Eagles have placed fifth-round defensive end Ricky Sapp on injured reserve, and claimed defensive end Pannel Egboh off waivers from the Houston Texans.

Sapp, who some had pegged as a first-round talent, has posted a pair of tackles this pre-season, but has been slowed by a knee injury and underwent an MRI exam.

Egboh (6-6, 287) played his college ball at Stanford and spent last summer with the San Francisco 49ers, totaling six tackles in pre-season action. Egboh spent part of last season on the Texans' practice squad, and appeared in two pre-season games before he was waived on Monday.
