Dolphins Announce Kevin Curtis Signing

The Miami Dolphins announced the signing of wide receiver Kevin Curtis, placing veteran right tackle Vernon Carey on injured reserve to make room for him.

Carey had started 88 consecutive games before missing Sunday's 10-6 win over the New York Jets with a knee injury. Lydon Murtha started at right tackle for Carey.

Curtis, 32, has caught 252 passes for 3,291 yards and 20 touchdowns during a 79-game career with the St. Louis Rams (2003-06) and Philadelphia Eagles (2007-09).

Injuries limited the former third-round pick out of Utah State to 12 games between the 2008 and 2009 seasons, and in September, Curtis underwent surgery to remove a cancerous testicle. The cancer was reportedly discovered early, and after the operation, Curtis began training and working out for NFL teams with an eye on continuing his NFL career.
