Dilfer Thinks Student-Athletes Should Be Compensated More

Former Super Bowl winning quarterback wants to see college athletes paid.

While speaking at the Governor's Dinner in Carson City, Nevada, former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer said if he could change anything about college athletics, it would be the amount student-athletes are compensated.

"It's wrong to have these coaches making 2 to 4-plus million dollars a year, and players playing for scholarship checks," Dilfer said, according to Roman Stubbs of the Reno Gazette-Journal. "We've sold these coaches as rock stars.

"I know there is a lot of issues if you start paying players. I get that. But the players have to be compensated more than just a scholarship check."

Dilfer, who was the sixth overall pick of the 1994 NFL Draft out of Fresno State, recapped his college experience, and pointed out that NCAA infractions could be reduced with a revamped compensation system in place.

"I'm bringing in thousands and thousands of dollars to the university because of my play on the field and our team's play on the field, and we're (he and his wife) eating Top Ramen and spaghetti every night as a married couple," Dilfer said. "There is something wrong with that picture."

Earlier this month, Dilfer also pushed for an NFL developmental league.

I also think it's worth considering raising fees for student-athletes. And I also combine these two positions and I want to say that sometimes it's very difficult. Regular training can hinder academic performance, which is what usually happens to me. Recently, I was preparing a course project in parallel with training and turned to this service for help https://wowgrade.net/ I just couldn't cope on my own. Therefore, I perfectly understand how difficult it's to combine constant training and a busy schedule in learning.
